Pilates

My system of teaching is very dynamic. I teach my clients to feel the the exercises while they are learning the technical aspects of the disciplines. I want my clients to enjoy moving, feel good while they are working hard, and have fun.

I have been teaching movement since 1982. Believe me, I get bored with exercise and movement way before you do. I vary the workouts so you that you are presented new material at a level that is challenging yet do-able.

I don't believe in one way to do the work. I keep up with training in all the styles of Pilates. I teach East Coast Classical Style of Pilates and utilize its benefits, as well as the hybrid forms of Pilates, as well as the pure West Coast style. I teach strictly traditional from what I learned and I also choreograph and develop new work for my clients to provide a variety of movement choices and new workouts each time.

I use Pilates in a Post Rehabilitation format borrowing from many forms of the more therapuetic aspects of the work as well.

But all that is the exercises which is not what it is really about.
I am very committed to the the concepts established by Joseph Pilates himself. I teach those concepts and make sure my clients apply them to the work. Execution of any Pilates Exercises without the concepts is pointless. They are so intertwined one cannot exist without the other.

I utilize all the Pilates Equipment, the Trap Table or Cadillac, the Chair, the Large and Small Barrels, Reformers, and the Ped O Pull.

I train my clients with mat work as well as Pilates Equipment. I believe all roads lead back to the Pilate Mat Work. It is the fundamental basis of the work.

And Hey, if you really learn the Pilates Mat you know it...then you don't have to pay a trainer any more!

I teach Gyrotonic and Gyrokenisis Systems as well. I utilize the Jumping Stretching Board, the Ladder, and the Tower.

Aline Technique is a wonderful blend of utilizing all my dance training, choreography, and small apparatus such as rollers, weights, bands, and balls. This system blends perfectly with Pilates and Gyrtonic work outs because it adds the element of cardio and working with music, balance, rythmn, and movement.

Usually, my clients end up doing almost everything I offer. It is fine to change around your routine, I absolutel encourage it. I offer so many different things that it would take forever to learn it all. Hang out long enough and you will.
